Podcast Spotlight: Why the Little Guy Always Beats the Bigger Guy

3 min read
I recently listened to Barbara Corcoran’s new podcast called Business Unusual (she just recently started this in May of 2018).
The first episode I listened to was called Why the Little Guy Always Beats the Bigger Guy – and it’s a great reminder to us little solopreneurs on why we can sometimes do better than the big conglomerates of business.
She tells a personal story about how she was creative with her first $1000 in real estate with an apartment in a bad location with nothing going for it and 1000 others just like it in the city.
Luckily, she solved her problem and had buyers knocking down her door to buy the apartment.
So what did she do?
Something that the bigger guys can’t do, she explains:
Be creative!
The bigger guys can’t be creative because they have too many hoops to jump through. Too much to lose.
But, as she says, us little guys can capitalize and beat the bigger guys with our creativity by simply having an idea and implementing it the very next day.
So, are you stuck on something on your business because you’re worried about competition? Are there bigger, better brands out there that look like they’re doing great, and you wish you could be them right now?
Instead of worrying about being exactly like them – what creative ideas can you think of that you can implement tomorrow?
Brainstorm for a few minutes today:
- What are they doing well?
- What am I not doing well?
- What do I wish I could do?
- Name three ways that you can do that
- What is the very next step to do each of these?
Onto you now:
What are you struggling with? What did you think of this podcast? Let me know!
