Why You Should Switch From BlueHost to SiteGround ASAP!
Most of us already have a hosting company for our websites or blogs, but when you’re looking into hosting companies, you hear basically three main options: Bluehost, Siteground, and GoDaddy.
I started with Bluehost after reading a LOT of affiliate reviews regarding Bluehost. I didn’t read too many reviews about GoDaddy, so my experience was that I didn’t go with it. The second most-popular was Siteground, which also has raving reviews.
Although a lot of bloggers probably have some very good experiences with all of these hosts, the question remains: Is Bluehost better than Siteground?
Well, let me just be the first to tell you to GO WITH SITEGROUND!
I wanted to write a post on why SiteGround is so much better than Bluehost based on my own experience.
My experience with Bluehost:
At the point in my business when I was choosing a hosting company, I spent a lot of time deciding between companies. After hearing from other bloggers that Bluehost was the best, I spent my hard earned business capital on a Bluehost package.
Shortly after I had set up my website, I had an HTTP error uploading photos into the WordPress Media Library. This is a common issue, and should be a relatively easy fix.
I contacted Bluehost support and they took about 20 minutes to “fix” it the first time. Unfortunately, it wasn’t fixed, so I tried again the next day. This tech said it was fixed, but when I looked at my website, it was unusable! I contacted them again, and my website ended up being down for several days as they said they were looking into the issue. I kept reaching out once a day, because they would continually tell me to wait 24-48 hours. After waiting two more days, I had to contact them and was told to wait another 24-48 hours. Eventually I received an email stating that the issue was fixed, but it wasn’t.
At that point, I was frustrated, and asked for a manager, but they refused to offer me any sort of managers phone number, to have someone call me, to get an email address, or offer me any higher tier support.
After multiple chat conversations and emails, it was clear that it wasn’t going to be fixed.
My site was literally unusable.
Sadly, this is how they left my site for me to deal with – this is what the homepage looked like!
Now, I want to talk about the value of SiteGround, not about how BlueHost’s service didn’t live up to my expectations. With that being said, I think it’s important to note that I have worked in the IT industry for years now, and I expect a high level of customer service support and high quality service for my business.
I’m sure that Bluehost has value in mind, however, I can only state my experience with the company, to help you make the best decision on how you should use your hard-earned money for your own business.
I have a theory that the reason why so many bloggers promote Bluehost is because they have a higher affiliate percentage than other website hosting companies. Whenever a blogger gets an affiliate customer from their blogs, my guess is that the affiliate pay is higher with Bluehost. If you notice, there are even some bloggers that promote both SiteGround and BlueHost.
But, I can only rightfully promote those companies that I would recommend to my friends and family. It’s just the right thing to do!

Why choose Siteground vs Bluehost?
Siteground scooped me up from my frustrating and stressful situation, and literally waved a magic wand and made everything better. It sounds corny, but that’s exactly what happened!
I had an experience where the BlueHost support left me in the dark, with no answers, and no way for me to know how to fix my website, or whether or not I would have to delete my entire website and start over. What a nightmare!
After inquiring with Siteground, they agreed that it only should have taken about 15 minutes to fix my issue, and we started the process of completely migrating my site over to their servers. The most helpful staff walked me through setting up a new account with them, and they were able to transfer all of the data for me without me having to touch anything except one button to finalize the process.
I literally contacted them on chat, with NO wait time by the way (most times I wait maybe 15 seconds to be connected to an agent, woohoo!) and then sat back and relaxed while they did all the work for me.
They even were able to waive the fee for my website transfer due to Bluehosts inadequate service – a bullet that SiteGround didn’t have to take but was willing to, in order to help their customer out!
This experience left me with a sense of security knowing that my site was taken care of, and I wouldn’t lose any customers in the process. I’m so glad I switched before my 30 day return window was closed with Bluehost! I can’t imagine having been stuck with Bluehost service for over a year with my website. Not to mention, my site speed is faster, too.
SiteGround has amazing customer service
Let’s just go back and talk about SiteGrounds service for just a minute here.
SiteGround has the utmost respect for me as a customer, which is so important to me and the products that I offer to my readers. I think a lot of people judge companies based on their customer service – and I think they are rightful to do so!
Customer service is the main contact point between you and your customer interactions. SiteGround knows this, and you can tell that it’s a very high value in their business.
Can I just tell you that these guys are so helpful even if it’s not part of their job? They go above and beyond every single time I’m on a chat with them. If I have a silly question on how to get to my host file, they can tell me exactly what I need to do.
In fact, I’ve had them even just take care of it for me more than once! They even take the time out of their day to teach me so that I can be a more educated website owner.
Siteground is good for non-techies
For someone who has no knowledge of website coding, data files for websites, or even what a host file is or where to find it – SiteGround is the company you want to go with because their white-glove service will leave you feeling secure and confident that you chose the right company to host your entire businesses livelihood with.
I don’t have to know all of the crazy information about SLL certificates, website migration, coding, etc. They take care of all it for me.
Siteground goes above and beyond
I can tell them I’m having a problem with my website speed, and they’ll give me multiple ways to fix it and I can bet that they will even take care of it for me.
This is what ultimate customer service is all about!
I have no doubt that everything if something were to go wrong, I know that it will be fixed, and I’ll be supported by their staff. I know that they won’t leave me high and dry when I need it the most.
Siteground support has no wait time (like, ever)!
I think the longest I have ever waited on chat support was one minute. I used to work in IT, so I time that stuff! It’s so nice to be able to hop on and have my question answered in two seconds without having to wait around or jump through hoops to get my question figured out.
Or, in a website emergency, I know I won’t be waiting any time for them to figure out the problem and get it fixed.
Bonus: they speak English and understand what I’m asking!
Sitegrounds fees are low and very affordable
The best part is that their fees are so low – it’s amazing that they offer the level of support that they do at this low cost. Their packages start at $3.95/month, which is so inexpensive, you can save your dollars for the important stuff, like marketing!
So that was my experience with BlueHost vs SiteGround. Let’s be honest – your hosting company is vital at the foundational level.
Because, in our online world, you have nothing if you don’t have a great hosting company.
You don’t want to worry about whether your customers can get to your site or not.
You don’t want to worry about your website crashing if too many people hit the site all at once.
And you really don’t want to worry that they will leave you high and dry during an important launch for your business!
Make it easy on yourself, don’t make the same mistake I did – choose right the first time!
